Gary Houghton
Following completion of a civil engineering degree at Leeds University, Gary worked on a series of high profile major civils projects, whilst attaining chartered engineer status. With Nick, he was the co-founder of Perco Engineering Services, a market leader in all types of trenchless technology. After the successful sale of Perco, and 4 years working for the new owners of Perco, it was time for a new challenge and the iGroup concept was established in 2012.

Gary is an avid sportsman, and is involved in downhill and cross-country mountain biking. He is a keen skier and participates in both car & motorcycle track days. He plays golf and enjoys reading travelling and tech. He also enjoys scuba diving and is a PADI Instructor.

 

Nick Sheehan
After a strong, practical based engineering grounding, Nick completed his engineering qualifications at Leeds Polytechnic, and quickly became one of the leading young engineers in the UK. His time was split between major engineering projects and specialist utilities until he formed Perco Engineering Services with Gary in 1996. Perco quickly grew to be the market leader in all things trenchless, and the business was successfully sold in 2007. Nick stayed with the new owners for a further 4 years, until the time came for a new challenge, and the iGroup concept was borne in 2012.

Nick is keen snow-boarder, and after completion of various instructor’s courses, is now a qualified coach & teaches all types of boarding from beginners to advanced. He enjoys films & travel, and the occasional game of golf.

 

Martin Gwatkin
After many years working in the construction industry in Europe, Martin joined Perco in 1998 and has progressed from being on the tools to senior management, heading up the UV relining division. Martin looks after a range of disciplines which he has learnt along the way, specialising in UV Lining & all types of trenchless technology.

In 2011 Martin and the lining division were transferred to Onsite, where Martin’s role as Contracts Manager developed to overall charge of the UV lining division. Martin now has a new challenge being part of iGroup, looking after the day to day running of iLine Technologies.

Martin enjoys travelling, following welsh rugby and social drinking.

 

John Beech
John joined iLine Technologies in 2012 as our Business Development Manager, after many years of working in the water sector with Severn Trent, and with 15 years experience of CIPP lining. John is very much the face of CIPP lining, and is known for his deep knowledge and understanding worldwide.

John enjoys his sports & regularly gets out his captains hat to go sailing. He is a keen cricket enthusiast & trots off to Lords, Edgbaston & Old Trafford whenever he can. John also enjoys travelling to anywhere with lots of sun & lots of heat!

 

Karen Beckett
After leaving school Karen spent a year working for Littlewoods plc as a junior management trainee. She then developed a sales/distribution network across the USA in 1985. Karen’s strengths in sales and marketing later took her in a new direction working for Black Horse Agencies in new homes property sales, negotiating detailed contracts. Following a career break whilst she was a part-time mum, she then moved into mainstream marketing (creative design & marketing).

In 2012, Karen joined iGroup, embracing a new challenge, developing the customer support department, liaising with high profile clients and coordinating presentations, quotes and engineering solutions in the Trenchless Technologies industry.

 

Andrew Collier
Andrew is iGroup’s project photographer and is based in Warrington, Cheshire. Andrew’s photography career started by accident whilst he looked after industrial marketing for a number of clients in the early 2000’s. Andrew has worked with iGroup since it was formed and visits key installations across the UK. The photography is used for iGroup’s websites, project presentations, case histories and marketing literature.

 

Gareth Barnfield
Gareth was educated at Barry Boys Comprehensive and South-Glamorgan Institute for Higher Education. He then trained and worked in the gas and asbestos industries, gaining many formal qualifications, and invaluable experiences of construction, utility and facility management sectors.

Gareth started work for Perco in 2001 in the Expandit pipe-bursting team, then progressed into the directional drilling team. In 2004, Gary & Nick brought UV-CIPP Lining to the UK and Gareth was part of the team that installed the first ever UV cured liners in the UK. In 2008 Gareth was promoted to lining foreman.

In 2011, the UV lining division was transferred within the South Staffs Group, where Gareth worked until Sept 2012 when Gareth joined iLine Technologies as senior lining foreman.

Gareth played rugby from the age of 7 until retirement at 40 for Barry RFC and Sully sports RFC. He enjoys sea fishing and follows home and away the Cardiff Blues and Wales rugby teams.

 

Alex Wilson
Alex left King Edward the VII school in Melton Mowbray in 2002 after completing his GCSE’s and went on to Brooksby Melton college to do an apprenticeship in agricultural engineering including welding and fabrication. He went on to work for Ellson Structural Steel erecting steel buildings, where he worked until 2005. Then he joined the ducting industry as a fitter installing smoke extraction units, then gaining 5 years of UV lining experience. Alex joined iLine Technologies in 2012.

Having been brought up around horses Alex has ridden since the age of 2, playing horseball for Great Britain in 1999. He got his first motocross bike at 6 and went on to race schoolboy motocross until 14, when rugby took over being selected to play for Leicestershire County Schools and Leicester Tigers Cadets. Having had a full motor bike license from 17 he started doing a few track days in 2010 and decided to stop riding on the road and began road racing until a 2011 accident ended his racing career.

 

Stuart Morgan
After completing his education at Llanedeyrn High School (Cardiff) in 1996 Stuart became an apprentice electrician. In 1998 he then joined the Army (Royal Engineers) where he served for 8 years, working & travelling the world, he also spent 1 year in Northern Ireland on operations. Whilst in the Army Stuart completed NVQ 2 in heating and plumbing, and completed a number of tank courses which gave him a category ‘H’ license. After leaving the Army in 2005, Stuart joined G4S as a civilian detention officer working in the Barry & Cardiff Bay custody suite, the main role of this job was the care and welfare of prisoners. Stuart joined iLine Technologies in 2012 as an apprentice lining operator

Stuart enjoys playing and watching rugby and is a big Cardiff Blues fan. He also plays Australian Rules football in the summer and currently has 3 caps for Wales.

 

Andrew Parker
After leaving St Illtyd’s high school in Cardiff in 2007 and studying Sport Science at St. David’s college, (also in Cardiff), Andrew went on to join the retail management team of an outdoor pursuits shop. Having always enjoyed being outdoors, he was able to carry out outdoor product quality testing with the company in the Brecon Beacons and Snowdon area. Eventually, this slowly became more of a hobby and decided to pursue a career in specialist engineering, joining iLine Technologies in late 2012, under their trenchless technology training programme.

Andrew enjoys keeping fit and active; cycling and running are two of his favourite hobbies, including days in the gym. Rugby is his favourite sport and Andrew is a die-hard Cardiff blues fan. He also plays guitar and enjoys writing music.

 

Dai John
Born in West Bromwich but brought up and educated just outside Cardiff, South Wales.
After leaving school, Dai began a 23 year career in banking and financial services finally working for a private bank on investment management and estate planning.
After taking redundancy Dai decided on a career change and joined Gary, Nick and Martin at Perco Engineering, mainly involved in trenchless pipeline rehabilitation & CIPP lining, later doing a three year spell with Onsite before returning to the fold at iLine Technologies.
His interests are rugby, Formula One and scuba diving and he also likes to keep his hand in with investments.

 

Scott Hamilton
Following his time after college, Scott wanted to carry on with the physical side of life and continue his learning experience gaining skills to help him live life. Scott was previously involved in pipeline patching works, and iLine was therefore a great step-up to the full-blown sector of pipeline rehabilitation, and GRP lining processes.

Scott enjoys keeping fit & active and is a very keen sportsman. Outside of work he likes to play basketball and go to the gym.

 

 

Dai Williams
Dai studied at Barry Comprehensive School in South Wales. He left education to work for the Vale of Glamorgan council for several years before working for a brief spell in retail. Dai was first introduced to iLine in 2018, and is currently working a specialist UV-CIPP operator. He has a keen interest in football and boxing; he started playing football at the age of 5 and still plays for a club called Cardiff Airport in the South Wales Alliance League. Dai has also played for Dinas Powys FC in the Welsh second division.
